FUN THINGS TO DO IN CHARLOTTE

U.S. National Whitewater Center

There are 24 different land and water activities at the U.S. National Whitewater Center,which covers a 500 acre facility northwest of downtown Charlotte. Kayak on the world's largest man-made whitewater river (both flatwater and whitewater), or stand-up paddle boarding is available, and, of course, whitewater rafting. If you'd prefer to stay dry, the center can accommmodate you there, too—mountain biking, rock climbing and zip-lining. There are plenty of running trails and obstacle courses for those with a competitive edge.

Discovery Place

Discovery Place is Charlotte's science museum. This kid-friendly playtopia is a great place to spend a day with the family. Here you'll find interactive, hands-on exhibits that cover a variety of scientific concepts like physics and earth science. Design and conduct lab experiments, study different ecosystems with the museum's rainforest exhibit and aquarium. Discovery Place also has the largest IMAX screen in the Carolinas, with new educational films updated regularly.

NASCAR Hall of Fame

Charlotte is NASCAR, for racing fans, taking a trip to the 150,000 sq ft state of the art Hall of Fame. Interactive exhibits such as racing simulators, artifacts and an amazing state of the art theater which holds 278 people. Don't forget the popular Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant and NASCAR Gear Shop.
