When flying into St. Bart, you will first be greeted at Juliana Airport, located on the Dutch side of St. Maarten. From there, you will transfer to St. Bart.

A Brief History of St. Bart

Originally inhabited by the Arawak Indians and then the Carib, Christopher Columbus landed here in 1493 where he named the island after his brother Bartolomeo. Owned by the French, they traded St. Bart to Sweden where it was declared a free port. It was sold back to France in 1878, but Swedish street signs and a Swedish cemetery remain. The 1960s and 1970s brought American tourism to this island when Remy de Haenen, friends with Howard Hughes and other Hollywood starlets, became the first mayor. It is now known for its yachts and signature season between Christmas Eve and New Year’s.

Saline Beach

Saline Beach is known for its amazing beaches, but it is not for the weak of heart. That is because nude sunbathing is the norm here. While you are there, pack some clothes so you can check out the nearby caves.

Fort Gustave

If you are a history buff, consider taking some time out to visit Fort Gustave. Constructed in the 17th century to protect the harbor against invasion, a functioning lighthouse remains as well as a few cannons. Great for photo opportunities, some signs indicate certain points of interest.

Nature Reserve of Saint Barthelemy

Founded in 1996, the main objective of the Nature Reserve of Saint Barthelemy is to protect underwater ecosystems. This includes coral reefs, seagrass beds, and marine life. This makes it a magical place for snorkeling and scuba diving.

No matter where you visit, International Jet will take you there in complete safety and comfort. You will not have to worry about a thing. Our team will take care of virtually everything for you. All you have to do is pack! Call us today to get on our schedule.
